Commemorating Language Martyrs Day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing tribute to the valiant martyrs who sacrificed their youth and lives during the historic anti-Hindi agitations to protect the identity and dignity of the Tamil language. Stalin invoked the impassioned historic poetry of the struggle, recalling how courageous young activists faced bullets and immolation rather than submit to cultural subordination and linguistic hegemony.
The Chief Minister affirmed that in a multilingual democracy, all recognized national languages are equal in dignity and cultural worth. He declared that Tamil Nadu will never tolerate linguistic chauvinism or backdoor imposition of Hindi under the guise of education policies or administrative standardization. Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian movement's foundational mission is to resist cultural domination in every form, preserving linguistic diversity and federal autonomy as essential tenets of the Indian republic.
Stalin reaffirmed his government's steadfast commitment to the statutory two-language formula established by Perarignar Anna, ensuring Tamil and English remain the pillars of learning and administration. He pledged that Tamil Nadu will continue to champion linguistic equality for all nationalities across India.
