Editorial context

Greeting citizens on the occasion of Republic Day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin called for a collective national reaffirmation to uphold and protect the secular ethos enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Stalin reminded the country that the republic was founded on the fundamental pillars of democracy, federalism, religious tolerance, and social justice, which together guarantee equality and dignity for every citizen regardless of faith or community.

The Chief Minister expressed deep pride in the exceptional progress achieved by the people of India across science, arts, agriculture, and public welfare since independence. He highlighted that Tamil Nadu has continually led national developmental metrics by combining industrial innovation with comprehensive social security measures. Stalin cautioned, however, that democratic progress remains vulnerable if sectarian divisiveness and majoritarian pressures are allowed to erode constitutional values and minority protections.

Stalin called upon people across all states to draw inspiration from the founding vision of the Constitution. He pledged that his administration will persistently champion pluralism, protect state autonomy, and expand social welfare, ensuring that India remains an inclusive, united, and secular republic for generations to come.
