Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated the state's pioneering role in India's independence movement by flagging off majestic cultural tableaux carrying statues of celebrated Tamil freedom fighters to tour districts across the state. Stalin pointed out that the first clarion calls for social emancipation and national liberation echoed from Tamil soil, emphasizing that arbitrary exclusion from the central Republic Day parade in New Delhi could never suppress historical truth.

The Chief Minister explained that when the Union Government rejected Tamil Nadu's tableau depicting iconic patriots like V.O. Chidambaranar, Rani Velu Nachiyar, and the Maruthu Pandiyar brothers, his government resolved to take these heroic figures directly to the people. Thousands of citizens, students, and elders gathered enthusiastically across towns and villages to pay homage to the mobile tableau, transforming an administrative snub into a statewide celebration of regional pride and historical awareness. Stalin observed that history belongs to courageous martyrs, not bureaucratic gatekeepers.

Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK administration will actively protect and promote Tamil history. He pledged continued investments in historical research, memorials, and educational curricula to ensure these sacrifices inspire future generations.
