Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated scientific archaeological excavations at Keeladi and adjacent sites in Sivaganga district, along with field excavations at Maligaimedu in Ariyalur district. Launching these research projects, Stalin reiterated his administration's firm resolve that the history of the Indian subcontinent must be rewritten scientifically, beginning from the fertile southern landscape of Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister noted that ancient Tamil literary texts and epigraphical records have long attested to a sophisticated urban civilization that flourished along the Vaigai river. To validate these historical truths beyond dispute, his government is deploying modern scientific methods, including carbon dating, stratigraphical mapping, and soil analysis, in close partnership with reputed research laboratories. Stalin observed that previous excavation seasons at Keeladi have already revealed advanced town planning, brick structures, and literate urban society dating back centuries.
Stalin affirmed that uncovering Tamil antiquity is an essential civic duty to preserve historical self-respect and cultural heritage for coming generations. He pledged continued state budgetary support to expand systematic excavations across key historical sites, ensuring that Tamil heritage receives rightful national and global recognition.
