Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed voters in Tiruppur ahead of urban local body elections, underscoring his administration's targeted assistance for the knitwear and textile hub. Describing Tiruppur as a vibrant center that provides livelihood to lakhs of workers from across the country, Stalin noted that the city embodies hard work and self-reliance. He recalled how historical meetings between Thanthai Periyar and Perarignar Anna in this region helped seed progressive democratic ideals across Tamil Nadu.
Focusing on economic recovery, the Chief Minister outlined decisive policy concessions granted by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government to protect micro, small, and medium enterprises. He explained that these interventions helped local garment exporters weather production hurdles, rising input costs, and pandemic market disruptions. Stalin stressed that small enterprises form the industrial backbone of Tamil Nadu, creating widespread employment for semi-skilled youth.
Stalin urged voters to support the Secular Progressive Alliance to align urban civic bodies with the state government's industrial vision. He reaffirmed his commitment to upgrading municipal basic infrastructure, wastewater recycling facilities, and export logistics across Tiruppur to keep its industrial sector globally competitive and resilient.
