In a pointed campaign statement ahead of the urban civic elections, DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condemned the previous AIADMK regime for converting local administration into a hotbed of systemic corruption. Stalin recalled that the opposition party intentionally avoided holding civic elections for years to shield illicit patronage networks and prevent public scrutiny over municipal contract allocations and local developmental funds.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the DMK fulfilled its democratic commitment by promptly conducting transparent urban local body elections within months of assuming office. He asserted that local bodies serve as the critical foundation of grassroots democracy, responsible for fundamental amenities including potable drinking water, well-maintained streets, efficient waste disposal, and community healthcare. Stalin warned that returning corrupt elements to power would derail urban development and stall the delivery of progressive state welfare programs to marginalized households.

Calling upon voters across all municipal corporations, municipalities, and town panchayats to vote decisively for the Secular Progressive Alliance, Stalin pledged that DMK-led councils will govern with uncompromising integrity, ensuring that civic resources are used solely to enhance the daily lives of citizens.
