Highlighting the transformative power of literature and intellectual inquiry, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin appealed to parents across the state to take their children to the 45th Chennai Book Fair while observing necessary COVID-19 health protocols. Stalin described books as indispensable keys that unlock knowledge, kindle innovative thinking, and guide youth toward ethical, progressive living in an evolving global society.
The Chief Minister emphasized that cultivating an enduring reading habit from early childhood expands imaginative horizons, builds critical analytical faculties, and deepens emotional empathy. He noted that the annual Chennai Book Fair serves as a magnificent intellectual gathering ground, showcasing thousands of Tamil and international titles spanning classical literature, science, sociology, history, and children's fiction. Stalin commended publishers, authors, and the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India for sustaining this historic literary tradition.
Stalin reaffirmed his government's steadfast commitment to promoting library movements and literary culture across Tamil Nadu through expanded public libraries and district-level book festivals. He urged families to make reading a daily domestic priority, stating that an enlightened, well-read younger generation forms the bedrock of a rational, socially just society.
