Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin marked a historic public health milestone by personally handing over a specialized medical kit to the fifty-lakhth beneficiary of the pioneering Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam scheme during a state function. On the same occasion, Stalin interacted with beneficiaries of the Nammai Kaakkum 48 emergency life-saving program and flagged off 188 modern ambulances to upgrade the state emergency response fleet.
Describing education and healthcare as the two vital eyes of the Dravidian Model of administration, Stalin underscored that doorstep delivery of non-communicable disease screening and hypertension and diabetes medications has revolutionized primary medical care across Tamil Nadu. By delivering continuous medical oversight directly to rural elders, women, and bedridden individuals, the program has drastically reduced catastrophic household medical costs and hospital burdens.
The Chief Minister praised field healthcare workers, village health nurses, and emergency medical technicians for their tireless grassroots service. He reaffirmed his government's resolve to continuously expand specialized tertiary care, modernize trauma centers along major highways under the Nammai Kaakkum 48 initiative, and ensure that every citizen receives prompt, high-quality medical treatment without financial barriers.
