Following the decisive sweep of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam alliance in the urban local body elections, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed newly elected representatives, reminding them that political triumph brings expanded democratic accountability. Stalin cautioned local leaders against complacency or pride, emphasizing that the public mandate represents an immense sacred trust that requires steadfast, honest, and humble daily service.
Invoking timeless administrative principles taught by Perarignar Anna and Muthamizharignar Kalaignar, Stalin instructed civic councillors, town panchayat heads, and municipal chairpersons to treat citizens' daily grievances as their topmost priority. He underscored that elected representatives must work transparently, maintain unimpeachable financial probity, and ensure that basic municipal necessities—such as clean drinking water, motorable roads, and efficient sanitation—are delivered equitably across all neighborhoods regardless of political affiliations.
The Chief Minister stressed that local administration serves as the primary, most immediate face of state governance in the daily lives of ordinary citizens. He urged every elected representative to function as an empathetic bridge between local residents and the state machinery, ensuring that transformative public welfare schemes reach marginalized urban households smoothly and without bureaucratic delay or administrative hindrance.
