Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held a direct video interaction with college students from the state who were stranded in Ukraine following the outbreak of armed conflict with Russia. Speaking directly to anxious students sheltering in bunkers and border posts, Stalin offered heartfelt reassurance, stating that the Tamil Nadu government is actively coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs to guarantee their safe, swift repatriation.
During the call, Stalin listened closely to reports regarding travel difficulties, food shortages, and border congestion faced by medical students attempting to reach evacuation corridors. He assured them that state officials are working round-the-clock from specialized control rooms established in Chennai and New Delhi to facilitate transit logistics, emergency consular assistance, and transit flight arrangements. The Chief Minister urged students to remain calm, avoid panic, and stay in constant contact with designated state nodal officers.
Stalin reaffirmed that the state government will bear all travel expenses for returning students and provide necessary transit accommodation upon their arrival in India. He highlighted that protecting the welfare of Tamil citizens abroad is an uncompromising duty of his administration, ensuring parents back home that every stranded youth will be safely brought back.
