Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated an exhibition showcasing student-led inventions for persons with disabilities under the Innovation for Social Development initiative at Meenakshi College for Women in Chennai. The program featured assistive devices, digital mobility solutions, and adaptive tools conceptualized and built by college students to assist individuals with visual, hearing, and locomotor impairments in their daily routines.
Interacting with student innovators and faculty mentors, Stalin praised the youth for channeling academic engineering and scientific creativity toward practical humanitarian goals. He remarked that true educational success is measured by how effectively students apply technical knowledge to solve pressing community challenges and alleviate human suffering. Stalin encouraged students across all higher education institutions to cultivate social responsibility alongside academic achievement, noting that empathetic innovation empowers marginalized groups and strengthens civic equality.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that his government is committed to supporting student entrepreneurship and scaling indigenous assistive technologies through state incubation centers and welfare departments. He emphasized that the Dravidian Model places human dignity and barrier-free access at the forefront of development policy, ensuring that persons with disabilities lead independent, productive lives with robust institutional support.
