Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condemned insensitive public statements made by BJP leaders who questioned why Indian youths traveled to smaller foreign nations like Ukraine to pursue medical education. Addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis, Stalin asserted that an active war situation is no time for political sermonizing, electoral propaganda, or self-promoting publicity, urging political leaders to prioritize the survival of young citizens caught in armed conflict.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Indian students were forced to seek affordable medical degrees abroad primarily because of the acute scarcity of medical college seats and exorbitant private fee structures within the country, compounded by restrictive entrance systems like NEET. He stressed that questioning the choices of desperate youth while their lives and futures hang in the balance reflects an alarming lack of empathy and basic administrative responsibility.
Stalin demanded that the Union government focus all available diplomatic, logistical, and military resources on safely extracting stranded scholars from war zones. He affirmed that Tamil Nadu stands resolutely with distressed families, continuing to demand prompt rescue and subsequent academic protection for every returning student.
