DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued an unequivocal ultimatum to party councillors who contested and won civic leadership positions allocated to alliance partners during indirect urban local body elections. Stalin stated firmly that mutual trust and solidarity among coalition allies must not be compromised under any circumstances for personal political gain.

The party president ordered all such errant councillors to submit their formal resignations from civic posts without hesitation. He warned that members who fail to vacate these posts immediately will be expelled permanently from the primary membership of the DMK.
