Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin praised Ramco Cements for establishing a pioneering ecological restoration park at Pandalgudi in Virudhunagar district, describing it as an inspiring environmental benchmark for the entire nation. The specialized environmental park was developed by transforming exhausted, barren limestone quarries into a lush, biologically diverse landscape supporting thousands of native trees and rehabilitated water harvesting reservoirs.
Stalin noted that scientific mine closure and systematic bio-reclamation demonstrate how abandoned industrial sites can be repurposed into thriving environmental sanctuaries. The restoration project has revived local groundwater tables, attracted indigenous avian species, and established a green ecological buffer that mitigates local temperature extremes in an otherwise arid geographical belt.
The Chief Minister highlighted that balancing industrial growth with environmental regeneration exemplifies the core principles of sustainable development. He commended company engineers and environmental scientists for their forward-looking conservation work, urging manufacturing firms across other resource-intensive sectors to replicate this green reclamation model across Tamil Nadu. Stalin affirmed that protecting biodiversity and establishing green cover on degraded landscapes represent fundamental components of the state environmental action plan for combating climate change.
