Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for the mega International Furniture Park in Thoothukudi during an official ceremony broadcast live across the state. The specialized manufacturing corridor, planned with an initial outlay of 1,000 crore rupees, is designed to establish southern Tamil Nadu as a global center for wooden and composite furniture manufacturing, assembly, and international exports.
The live broadcast showcased the master plan of the industrial park, which includes plug-and-play manufacturing sheds, automated testing laboratories, timber treatment facilities, and dedicated logistics links to the V.O. Chidambaranar Port. Stalin emphasized that the park will attract multinational manufacturers, nurture local craftsmanship, and generate thousands of formal employment opportunities for young workers across southern districts.
Stalin reiterated that his administration is committed to dispersing industrial investments beyond Chennai, ensuring balanced regional economic growth under the Dravidian model of governance. The state government continues to provide comprehensive infrastructure support, single-window clearances, and targeted investor incentives to transform Thoothukudi into a vibrant industrial hub driving Tamil Nadu toward a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030 through advanced manufacturing and equitable job generation.
