Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art International Furniture Park in the coastal city of Thoothukudi, representing a capital commitment of approximately 1,000 crore rupees. Marking a historic leap forward for southern Tamil Nadu industrial development, the dedicated industrial hub is designed to transform the region into a premier global center for modern furniture manufacturing, export assembly, and wood-based ancillary enterprises.

Stalin emphasized that genuine economic progress requires balanced regional development, ensuring that southern districts achieve parity with northern industrial clusters. He pointed out that Thoothukudi offers exceptional comparative advantages, including an international seaport, rail-road logistical corridors, and access to skilled technical labor, making it an ideal destination for large-scale export manufacturing. The proposed park will provide plug-and-play production sheds, testing laboratories, and common facility centers to domestic and foreign enterprises.

The Chief Minister stated that the project will create tens of thousands of skilled manufacturing jobs for local youth, revitalizing the southern economic landscape under the Dravidian model of governance. Stalin reaffirmed that his administration is executing focused industrial policies to attract diversified global investments across every district of Tamil Nadu.
