Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conferred prestigious state awards and cash prizes upon distinguished Tamil scholars, creative writers, and translators at a grand literary celebration organized by the Department of Tamil Development. Stalin expressed immense pride in honoring luminaries who have rendered meritorious service to the development, propagation, and international recognition of the Tamil language. He emphasized that patronizing creative intellectuals is an enduring tradition of the Dravidian movement.
Addressing the assembled literary gathering, Stalin announced that his government will soon fulfill the visionary dream of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi by establishing the state-of-the-art Kalaignar Memorial Book Park in Chennai. The proposed park will serve as a permanent cultural and publishing hub where readers, students, and research scholars can browse and purchase books from hundreds of publishers under a single roof throughout the year. The park will also host regular literary festivals and author interactions.
The Chief Minister reiterated that preserving and enriching classical Tamil heritage remains central to the state cultural identity. Stalin assured the literary fraternity of continuous institutional patronage, translation grants, and publication subsidies, ensuring that Tamil literature continues to inspire global audiences.
