Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated a cutting-edge robotic surgery center at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital situated in the Omandurar Government Estate, Chennai. Marking an unprecedented milestone in Indian public healthcare, this advanced robotic surgical system is the first of its kind installed in any state government-run hospital across India. Stalin emphasized that the facility democratizes high-end medical technology, ensuring that advanced surgical care is freely accessible to ordinary citizens.

The robotic surgical console facilitates minimally invasive, precision-guided procedures for complex cardiovascular, renal, colorectal, and oncological surgeries. Patients benefit from significantly reduced blood loss, minimized surgical trauma, shorter hospital stays, and accelerated post-operative recovery times. Stalin pointed out that high-cost robotic surgeries, which remain prohibitively expensive in private healthcare facilities, are now provided completely free of charge to underprivileged patients under the Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme.
