Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive field inspection of ongoing stormwater drain construction along Cenotaph Road and C.V. Raman Road in the Teynampet zone of Chennai. The urban infrastructure project, being executed at an estimated cost of 4.51 crore rupees, is designed to modernize outdated drainage channels and expand runoff capacity across critical transit junctions. Stalin examined physical excavations, verified pipe dimensions, and instructed engineering teams to adhere strictly to technical standards.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister instructed municipal officials, engineers, and contractors to maintain absolute urgency and rigor across all city drainage projects. Stalin declared that the administration goal is to eliminate road water stagnation permanently, ensuring that citizens experience seamless commuting even during severe monsoon downpours. He directed civic authorities to clear debris promptly, restore excavated road surfaces, and ensure coordinated execution between municipal, water supply, and electricity departments.

Stalin reaffirmed that urban flood resilience remains an uncompromising developmental priority under his administration.
