Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the Kaaval Uthavi mobile application in Chennai, introducing a comprehensive digital safety platform for citizens across the state. Designed by the Tamil Nadu Police, the app incorporates more than sixty public safety features, including an emergency SOS alert button that instantly connects users in distress to the nearest police control room. Stalin noted that technology must be harnessed proactively to make police assistance instantly accessible, especially for women, children, and elderly citizens.
Speaking at the launch, Stalin emphasized that the police force must evolve from merely punishing offenders after crimes occur into an agile, proactive agency dedicated to preventing offenses altogether. The app enables users to register complaints, report cybercrimes, share live GPS locations during transit emergencies, and locate nearby police stations. Stalin observed that modern digital interfaces eliminate administrative bottlenecks and build public trust in law enforcement authorities.
The Chief Minister commended police leadership for designing user-friendly safety tools that cater to vulnerable citizens. Stalin reaffirmed that maintaining peaceful public order, ensuring women safety, and delivering responsive policing remain foundational priorities of the Dravidian model governance, promising continuous technological upgrades to protect all citizens across Tamil Nadu.
