Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over the inauguration of the Periyar Memorial Samathuvapuram in Kozhuvari village of Viluppuram district, marking a poignant moment of social emancipation. In a powerful demonstration of egalitarian values, Stalin invited a local Dalit sister who will reside in the enclave to cut the ceremonial ribbon and formally open the housing colony. Stalin stated that this meaningful gesture reflects the foundational purpose of the Dravidian movement to elevate marginalized communities.
The Chief Minister recalled that the visionary Samathuvapuram initiative was conceived by former Chief Minister Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi in the name of rationalist reformer Thanthai Periyar to eradicate caste and religious untouchability. Stalin noted that deep-seated prejudices can only be dissolved when people live together as equal neighbors, sharing drinking water, community centers, and shared playgrounds. The newly established colony accommodates one hundred diverse families in concrete dwellings furnished with comprehensive civic amenities.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian model governance actively dismantles systemic social hierarchies through affirmative state intervention. He declared that fostering equality and fraternal solidarity remains the ultimate measure of genuine societal progress, dedicating the Kozhuvari settlement to brotherhood and mutual dignity.
