Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated a massive non-leather footwear manufacturing unit at Pelakuppam in Viluppuram district, capable of employing over six thousand people, predominantly women from local rural communities. Speaking at the industrial launch, Stalin stated that the project exemplifies his government vision of geographically equitable industrialization. He stressed that industrial progress must not remain confined to major metropolitan areas, but should permeate interior and backward districts to provide local livelihood opportunities.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the establishment of the modern factory in Viluppuram fulfills a vital commitment to foster inclusive employment and curb rural-urban migration. By partnering with leading global footwear manufacturers, Tamil Nadu is rapidly emerging as a global capital for footwear and leather goods production. Stalin observed that employing thousands of women enhances financial independence, elevates household living standards, and stimulates grassroots rural economies.

Stalin reaffirmed his resolve to attract labor-intensive industries across tier-two and tier-three centers throughout Tamil Nadu.
