Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a landmark administrative decision to provide priority employment for long-suffering village welfare workers across the state. These grassroots workers, originally recruited during previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam tenures to facilitate village development, faced prolonged hardship and arbitrary dismissals under successive All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam regimes. Under the newly sanctioned policy, eligible village welfare workers will be accommodated on a priority basis as village employment scheme coordinators across rural districts. The government has also substantially raised their monthly honorarium, ensuring fair compensation and dignified working conditions for their community service. Stalin noted that utilizing their extensive grassroots administrative experience will streamline the execution of rural employment guarantee projects, benefiting millions of agrarian households.

The Chief Minister underscored that the Dravidian model governance prioritizes compassionate welfare and labor justice.
