Let us fight for state autonomy!

Addressing a momentous political gathering, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin posed a fundamental question to the nation, asking whether states should remain passive nodding puppets of the Union government. Stalin passionately argued that the time has come to amend the Indian Constitution to grant substantial administrative, financial, and legislative powers to state governments. He emphasized that genuine democracy can flourish only when states possess the autonomous capacity to govern effectively without central interference.
The Chief Minister appealed to secular and progressive movements nationwide to join hands in safeguarding the constitutional foundation of India. He warned that authoritarian tendencies and excessive centralization threaten the unity in diversity that defines the republic. Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu will lead the ideological vanguard for state autonomy, echoing the historic call of Perarignar Anna and Muthamizharignar Kalaignar for true federalism.
Stalin called upon democratic forces to launch a concerted struggle for decentralized governance, declaring that a strong Union is built upon strong and self-reliant states. He reaffirmed his unshakeable resolve to work tirelessly until a truly federal India, respecting linguistic and regional diversity, is fully realized.
