My humble tributes to one of the greatest anti-caste revolutionaries Mahatma #JyotiraoPhule on his birth anniversary.
He was a pioneer not just in educating the oppressed and women, but also in conducting reformist marriages.
Let's strive together to achieve his vision. https://t.co/42btFQscLr

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing tributes to one of India greatest anti-caste revolutionaries and social reformers, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Stalin emphasized that Phule was an exceptional visionary who fearlessly challenged entrenched Brahmanical orthodoxy and established the Satyashodhak Samaj to liberate marginalized communities from spiritual and intellectual bondage. He lauded Phule for recognizing early that education is the fundamental vehicle for human emancipation.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Mahatma Phule, alongside his wife Savitribai Phule, pioneered the first modern schools for Dalit girls and women, braving fierce reactionary backlash to democratize learning. In addition, Phule championed reformist marriages devoid of priestly rituals and caste hierarchies, laying the groundwork for radical social movements across India. Stalin pointed out that the social justice legacy of Jyotirao Phule directly aligns with the egalitarian philosophy of Thanthai Periyar and the Dravidian movement.
Stalin called upon progressive youth and social activists to study Phule life and dedicate themselves to eradicating social discrimination. He reiterated that Tamil Nadu remains steadfast in realizing Phule vision of a casteless and egalitarian society.
