A black day for the state when 20 persons from TN were shot down in Andhra Pradesh on this day in 2015. My heart goes out to the families.

The government of TN will support the families in their legal battle for justice. We will also extend all other assistance to them.

Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin solemnly observed the anniversary of the tragic 2015 incident in Andhra Pradesh, where twenty poor woodcutters from Tamil Nadu were fatally shot down in the Seshachalam forest. Stalin described that painful day as an enduring black day in the collective memory of the state, expressing profound grief and personal sympathy for the bereaved families who lost their primary breadwinners in the encounter.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the Government of Tamil Nadu stands solidly behind the affected families in their relentless legal battle to secure criminal justice and accountability. He announced that the state administration will provide comprehensive legal assistance, hire specialized advocates, and monitor court proceedings to ensure that justice is not denied. Stalin also directed welfare departments to extend continued social security pensions, educational support for children, and employment assistance to the surviving households.

Stalin emphasized that the state government considers the protection and dignity of underprivileged Tamil laborers its foremost responsibility. He asserted that no administrative power should act with impunity against vulnerable wage earners, pledging that Tamil Nadu will never abandon the victims families until truth and legal justice prevail.
