Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over the valedictory ceremony of an intensive statewide orientation workshop held in Chennai for mayors, deputy mayors, municipal chairpersons, and local body leaders. Addressing the assembled civic heads, Stalin cited former 1960s Gopalapuram municipal councillor Jesudas as an enduring benchmark for civic leadership. He narrated how Jesudas maintained constant field presence, resolved local grievances promptly, and commanded universal affection across political lines.
The Chief Minister outlined key administrative priorities for urban local bodies, urging delegates to implement modern waste processing techniques, maintain public parks, and accelerate stormwater drain construction. He highlighted that training camps provide municipal leadership with the administrative tools and legal clarity needed to manage civic budgets responsibly. Stalin emphasized that local representatives must uphold absolute transparency in contract allocations and maintain zero tolerance toward corrupt practices.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian model administration relies heavily on energetic local leadership to execute ambitious state welfare policies. He encouraged delegates to govern their towns with empathy, vision, and dedication, ensuring that public resources are used effectively to enhance urban living standards and foster communal well-being across Tamil Nadu.
