Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed profound concern over the inexplicable delay by Raj Bhavan in forwarding the state NEET exemption bill to the Government of India. Stalin pointed out that the prolonged inaction by the Governor has triggered immense emotional distress and academic anxiety among thousands of aspiring medical students and their parents across Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that the anti-NEET legislation represents the collective and sovereign will of the state people.
The Chief Minister asserted that the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly exercised its legitimate constitutional powers in passing the legislation unanimously to protect rural and government school students from being sidelined by commercial coaching culture. He stated that democratic propriety requires constitutional functionaries to honor legislative sovereignty rather than stalling bills indefinitely without justification. Stalin expressed hope that the Governor would recognize the solemnity of his constitutional oath and discharge his duty promptly.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian model administration remains unwavering in defending state rights and educational self-determination. He assured Tamil Nadu students that his government will utilize all constitutional, legal, and political avenues to dismantle discriminatory entrance examinations and restore equitable access to medical education.
