Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin made an emotional and principled statement affirming that maritime boundaries and international borders can never sever the unbreakable cultural bonds connecting the people of Tamil Nadu with Sri Lankan Tamils. Responding to the severe economic meltdown in Sri Lanka that forced displaced families to seek asylum on Tamil Nadu shores, Stalin asserted that the state government acts with deep compassion and solidarity toward their plight.
The Chief Minister directed district collectors in coastal regions to ensure that arriving refugees receive immediate medical care, nutritious food, clean drinking water, and safe shelter. He stressed that administrative agencies must handle asylum seekers with human empathy rather than criminal suspicion, attending promptly to the needs of traumatized women and young children. Stalin affirmed that humanity is the ultimate foundation of all political action and statecraft under the Dravidian philosophy.
Stalin reiterated that his administration remains steadfast in protecting the welfare, dignity, and rehabilitation of Sri Lankan Tamils residing in refugee rehabilitation camps. He underscored that Tamil Nadu will continue advocating for their fundamental civil rights, equal citizenship status, and peace, assuring that brotherly assistance will never falter in times of adversity.
