Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the Governor of Tamil Nadu for causing unwarranted delays in transmitting the state NEET exemption bill to the President of India. Speaking on the constitutional impasse, Stalin emphasized that the Legislative Assembly reflects the sovereign will of the seven and a half crore people of Tamil Nadu. He asserted that withholding a unanimously reenacted bill passed by the elected legislature undermines constitutional conventions and parliamentary democracy.
The Chief Minister declared that when faced with a choice between personal standing and collective ethnic dignity, he will always champion ethnic dignity and self-respect. He pointed out that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test severely disadvantages rural students, marginalized communities, and state board learners by making medical admissions dependent on expensive private coaching academies. Stalin emphasized that the Assembly reenacted the anti-NEET legislation strictly within its constitutional powers to protect social justice and educational federalism.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian movement has an unyielding history of defending state autonomy against central overreach and gubernatorial obstruction. He urged the Governor to respect legislative sovereignty and discharge his constitutional obligations without further delay, assuring students that Tamil Nadu will persist until justice is secured.
