Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted extensive on-site inspections of critical flood mitigation works across northern Chennai, visiting Manali, Thiruvottiyur, and Korukkupet neighborhoods. Stalin examined progress on the comprehensive stormwater drainage project and reviewed the engineering restoration of the Kosasthalaiyar river banks. He observed that establishing robust drainage channels and clearing river outfalls are vital to prevent inundation during monsoon downpours.
During his field review, the Chief Minister interacted with municipal engineers, contract supervisors, and local residents to evaluate ground realities. He instructed civic authorities to accelerate excavation and pipe laying operations, demanding that all flood prevention works meet rigorous quality benchmarks before the onset of seasonal rains. Stalin stressed that no neighborhood in Chennai should experience prolonged water stagnation or road inundation under his administration watch.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Dravidian model governance has adopted a scientifically planned, river-basin-oriented approach to storm management in vulnerable urban zones. He assured northern Chennai residents that long-neglected drainage infrastructure is being upgraded on a permanent basis. Stalin affirmed his commitment to personally monitoring urban flood relief projects, ensuring that public funds deliver lasting safety and relief to urban communities across Chennai.
