Despite sufficient production of coal, the same is not getting transported to ports.
This serious issue would impact the post covid economic recovery if not addressed immediately.
I request Hon'ble @PMOIndia to direct @CoalMinistry to ensure daily supply of 72000 MT coal to TN. https://t.co/fUyUhHig7C

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting urgent intervention from the Union Coal Ministry to ensure the uninterrupted daily supply of 72000 metric tonnes of coal to Tamil Nadu power utilities. Stalin pointed out that domestic coal production remained adequate, yet severe bottlenecks in railway rake availability and port logistics hindered coal movement to southern thermal generating stations.
The Chief Minister stressed that failing to address coal transport deficiencies immediately would jeopardize industrial recovery across the state. Tamil Nadu electricity generation stations required steady fuel supplies to meet surging peak power demands driven by summer heat and revived manufacturing operations. Stalin warned that unexpected load shedding would disrupt economic recovery and hit small and medium enterprises following pandemic hardships.
Stalin called upon the Union government to direct the Ministry of Coal and Indian Railways to coordinate fuel allocations without delay. He emphasized that cooperative federalism demands prompt central assistance in energy logistics to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply. The Chief Minister assured citizens that the state administration remains fully vigilant in safeguarding energy security and consumer welfare.
