Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin shared a live video broadcast of the special Grama Sabha assembly held in Sengadu village panchayat, Kanchipuram district, to mark National Panchayati Raj Day. The live stream enabled citizens across Tamil Nadu to observe grassroots democratic deliberations firsthand, watching the Chief Minister interact directly with rural residents, listen to local representations, and announce municipal infrastructure approvals on the spot in the village.
In his address broadcast live, Stalin underlined the transformative role of Panchayati Raj institutions in empowering rural communities and decentralizing administrative decision-making. He stressed that under the Dravidian model of governance, village assemblies are treated as sovereign community forums where public funds are audited transparently and village development priorities are set by the residents themselves.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state administration dedication to bridging urban-rural development disparities through targeted investments in village roads, schools, primary health centers, and water conservation projects. Stalin urged panchayat leaders across Tamil Nadu to emulate the active civic participation witnessed in Sengadu, ensuring that grassroots democracy delivers measurable improvements in rural quality of life and community empowerment.
