Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin participated in the valedictory public conference marking the culmination of a twenty-one-day intensive statewide campaign led by Dravidar Kazhagam president Asiriyar K. Veeramani opposing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Stalin commended Veeramani for undertaking an exhaustive grassroots tour across Tamil Nadu districts to educate the public on the severe pedagogical, constitutional, and social damage inflicted by centralized entrance tests on marginalized students.

Addressing the massive gathering in Chennai, the Chief Minister declared that the Dravidian movement will relentlessly fight the discriminatory entrance examination in the people court until complete exemption is attained. Stalin emphasized that the centralized test systematically penalizes rural candidates, vernacular-medium students, and economically vulnerable households while fueling an unprincipled private coaching industry that commercializes medical education.

Stalin asserted that the elected state government will never abandon its constitutional mandate to defend educational federalism and student welfare. He expressed unshakeable confidence that the united democratic struggle of the people of Tamil Nadu will ultimately dismantle the exclusionary examination system and restore equitable access to medical colleges for all deserving candidates regardless of socioeconomic origin.
