Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin shared a live video broadcast of his landmark special address delivered on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in Chennai. Speaking under Assembly Rule 110, Stalin formally moved historic government resolutions announcing that the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Muthamizharignar Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi on June 3 will be commemorated annually as an official state government festival across Tamil Nadu.
During his address, the Chief Minister detailed Karunanidhi unparalleled contributions as an orator, writer, administrator, and political visionary who guided the state through multiple decades of progressive transformation. Stalin announced the government decision to erect a grand statue of Karunanidhi at the Omandurar Government Estate complex, highlighting that the venue will honor the democratic architect of modern Tamil society.
Stalin emphasized that recognizing the historic role of legendary leaders who advanced social justice, federal autonomy, and Tamil welfare represents an essential duty of the elected government. He expressed gratitude to treasury and opposition members who supported the declaration, reiterating that the Dravidian model administration remains firmly anchored in the egalitarian ideals championed by Muthamizharignar Kalaignar.
