Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed profound shock and deep personal anguish upon learning of the tragic death of eleven individuals during the Appar temple festival chariot electrocution accident in Kalimedu, Thanjavur district. Stalin immediately instructed senior health officials and hospital administrators to provide specialized, high-quality intensive medical treatment to all injured individuals admitted to the Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital.
Demonstrating immediate, compassionate leadership, the Chief Minister announced that he was personally traveling to Thanjavur that very day to inspect the accident site, review emergency medical arrangements, and directly console the bereaved families in their moment of immense grief. Stalin also sanctioned immediate financial relief from the Chief Minister Public Relief Fund for the families of the deceased and the critically injured victims.
Stalin ordered a thorough high-level administrative enquiry to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the high-voltage electrical contact during the chariot procession. He emphasized that the state government will take all necessary administrative, technical, and preventative measures to ensure that public safety protocols are strictly enforced across all religious and cultural gatherings statewide without exception in the future.
