Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid solemn homage to the victims of the tragic Kalimedu temple chariot electrocution disaster, offering profound condolences to bereaved family members with a heavy heart during his emergency field visit to Thanjavur. Stalin personally visited every hospitalized survivor undergoing intensive treatment at the medical college, closely enquiring about their health status, burn care management, and recovery progress from attending physicians and specialized surgeons.
The Chief Minister emphasized that temple festivals and cultural celebrations must be conducted with heightened alertness, rigorous administrative vigilance, and uncompromising safety safeguards to permanently prevent such devastating tragedies from occurring in the future. He instructed local municipal bodies, electricity board officials, and temple administration committees to coordinate proactively well before granting event permissions.
Stalin declared that the loss of eleven precious lives is an irreplaceable tragedy that has deeply shaken the conscience of Tamil Nadu. He pledged that the state government will institute strict safety regulations governing high-voltage transmission lines near festival routes and ensure comprehensive financial, medical, and emotional rehabilitation for every affected household in Kalimedu village as they rebuild their lives.
