Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid floral tributes to the portrait of revolutionary poet Pavendhar Bharathidasan on the occasion of his 132nd birth anniversary in Chennai. Remembering the towering literary pioneer whose fiery verse awakened the social, cultural, and political consciousness of the Tamil people, Stalin emphasized that Bharathidasan writings provided the intellectual foundation and emotional impetus for the Dravidian self-respect movement during critical decades of transition.
The Chief Minister invoked Bharathidasan immortal poetic proclamation urging society to build a new world and tear down the archaic, conflict-ridden structures of oppression by their very roots. Stalin noted that Bharathidasan used poetry not as mere aesthetic entertainment, but as a potent weapon against caste discrimination, religious obscurantism, gender subjugation, and linguistic hegemony across the Tamil country.
Stalin reaffirmed that the Dravidian model administration remains dedicated to realizing the revolutionary poet egalitarian vision through transformative welfare policies in education, women empowerment, and social justice. He urged the younger generation to read and internalize Bharathidasan poetry, drawing inspiration to defend rationalism, Tamil identity, and democratic equality against reactionary cultural forces in contemporary times.
