Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin shared a live broadcast of his special address delivered at the State Highways Department platinum jubilee celebrations organized in Chennai. Presiding over the historic milestone alongside cabinet colleagues, senior civil servants, and departmental engineers, Stalin highlighted the indispensable role played by arterial roadways, coastal corridors, and rural link routes in driving Tamil Nadu rapid industrial expansion and equitable economic growth across districts.
During his keynote speech, the Chief Minister paid rich tribute to former Chief Minister Muthamizharignar Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi for his visionary decision to create an independent Highways Department dedicated to modernizing state transport infrastructure. Stalin announced the formal naming of the prominent East Coast Road after Karunanidhi, cementing his legacy in developing scenic and commercially vital transit corridors across the southern coastal belt.
Stalin urged highway engineers and administrative personnel to maintain stringent construction quality standards, execute projects within stipulated deadlines, and adopt eco-conscious design solutions. He affirmed that the Dravidian model administration remains firmly committed to upgrading transit networks to international standards, ensuring seamless connectivity, enhanced passenger safety, and balanced regional prosperity for future generations throughout Tamil Nadu.
