Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented a series of comprehensive policy announcements during the budgetary demands for grants debate for the Police Department in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Stalin affirmed that while police personnel work tirelessly day and night to safeguard public peace and security, the state government holds an equal duty to protect their welfare, working conditions, and professional dignity.
The Chief Minister unveiled major institutional reforms designed to promote work-life balance for police personnel, including mandatory weekly rest days, modernized police quarters, streamlined grievance redressal mechanisms, and enhanced health coverage for law enforcement families. He also announced state investments in forensic science laboratories, digital surveillance systems, and cybercrime investigation units to equip the state police with modern investigative technologies.
Stalin emphasized that the ultimate objective of law enforcement under the Dravidian model is not merely solving reported offences but fostering a secure social environment where crimes are prevented before they occur. He instructed police officers to maintain compassionate, approachable police stations where citizens, particularly women and vulnerable groups, feel completely safe lodging complaints. Reaffirming his administration commitment to justice, Stalin declared that transparent policing will continuously uphold the rule of law across Tamil Nadu.
