I request Hon'ble @PMOIndia and Hon'ble CJI to ensure that the federal character and diverse nature of India are reflected in the judicial branch and reiterate my three demands made before the CJI when I had the privilege of sharing the dais with him. https://t.co/JuE8q3it2A

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin submitted a formal appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana, urging them to ensure that the diverse federal character and multi-linguistic pluralism of India are truly reflected in appointments across the higher judiciary. Stalin reiterated three core demands he had previously articulated while sharing the dais with the Chief Justice in Chennai.
The Chief Minister specifically urged the establishment of permanent regional benches of the Supreme Court of India in major southern cities such as Chennai, enabling citizens from distant states to access apex judicial remedies without enduring excessive travel and prohibitive litigation expenses in New Delhi. Additionally, Stalin pressed for declaring Tamil as the official language of proceedings in the Madras High Court, making justice intelligible to everyday litigants.
Stalin emphasized that social diversity and proportional regional representation in judicial appointments are essential to sustaining public faith in the constitutional justice delivery system. He pointed out that true federalism requires decentralizing apex institutional authority and embracing regional linguistic heritage across all constitutional branches. Concluding his appeal, Stalin called upon the central executive and judiciary to implement these constructive reforms to strengthen Indian constitutional democracy.
