Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the newly completed Medavakkam flyover in south Chennai, constructed by the Highways and Minor Ports Department at a total expenditure of 95.21 crore rupees. Stalin highlighted that following the earlier openings of major grade separators at Koyambedu and Velachery, this marks the third critical flyover infrastructure commissioned by his administration within its first year in office.

The Chief Minister noted that the new elevated corridor provides seamless vehicular movement between Tambaram and Velachery, eliminating chronic traffic gridlocks at major road junctions and significantly reducing transit times for daily commuters, office goers, and commercial logistics. He emphasized that systematic grade separation along congested arterial corridors remains an indispensable priority for Chennai rapidly expanding metropolitan sprawl.

Stalin affirmed that the state government is pursuing a comprehensive master plan to upgrade urban transportation infrastructure across Chennai and other major cities. He instructed highways engineers to expedite ongoing elevated roadway and bridge construction projects while ensuring strict adherence to structural safety and quality benchmarks. Reaffirming his administration focus on progressive urban modernization under the Dravidian model, Stalin pledged that infrastructure expansion will continue unabated to foster sustainable economic growth.
