Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid floral tributes to pioneering anti-caste crusader and intellectual Pandit Iyothee Thass on his birth anniversary, characterizing him as a founding luminary of the Dravidian movement. Stalin called upon the people of Tamil Nadu to pledge themselves toward breaking caste oppression, fostering rational thought, and fiercely defending self-respect and Dravidian cultural identity against reactionary forces.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the upcoming memorial hall dedicated to Pandit Iyothee Thass in Chennai will stand as a permanent monument to his intellectual contributions and historical struggles for Dalit emancipation. Stalin noted that Iyothee Thass pioneered weekly journalism through Oru Paisa Tamizhan, spearheading modern Dalit consciousness and advocating social justice long before contemporary institutional frameworks emerged.
Reiterating the core philosophy of the Dravidian model administration, Stalin declared that true governance lies in elevating marginalized communities and institutionalizing social equality across public life. He emphasized that the memorial hall will educate coming generations on their collective history of ideological resistance, asserting that the state government will continuously safeguard the constitutional rights, dignity, and historical memory of oppressed communities.
