Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited the 124th Annual Flower Show in Udhagamandalam, expressing admiration for the intricate floral displays created in honour of indigenous tribal communities who represent the native heritage of the Nilgiris hills. Stalin commended the Horticulture Department and local floriculturists for highlighting tribal culture through artistic horticultural arrangements that captivated thousands of visiting tourists and residents.
Reflecting on the successful implementation of environmental safeguards in the Nilgiris biosphere, Stalin observed that the stringent ban on single-use plastics enforced across hill stations must serve as a model for the entire state. He noted that fragile hill ecosystems require disciplined conservation measures to prevent plastic waste from polluting forests, mountain streams, and wildlife habitats.
The Chief Minister emphasized that sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship must go hand in hand to protect ecological diversity. He instructed district administrative officials to maintain strict vigilance against plastic dumping while encouraging visitors to carry reusable alternatives. Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian model government remains firmly resolved to replicate successful localized conservation policies statewide, ensuring long-term ecological balance and environmental justice for all regions.
