Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the Special Nutrition Provision Scheme for children identified with nutritional deficiencies at a dedicated ceremonial event in Udhagamandalam. The live broadcast captured proceedings as Stalin personally distributed specialized health nutrition kits, fortified dietary supplements, and clinical monitoring cards to mothers of young children. The scheme targets early intervention for toddlers diagnosed with severe or moderate acute malnutrition, integrating healthcare screening with community-level nutritional support.
Speaking during the launch, the Chief Minister underscored that early childhood nutrition lays the permanent biological foundation for intellectual capability and lifelong well-being. Stalin instructed the Department of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, along with the Health and Family Welfare Department, to monitor each enrolled child until healthy weight-for-age benchmarks are restored. He emphasized that anganwadi workers and village health nurses will make regular home visits to assess dietary intake and administer therapeutic nutrition packs.
Stalin affirmed that eliminating child malnutrition constitutes a non-negotiable moral imperative of the Dravidian model of governance. He reiterated that the state government is committed to ensuring every child in Tamil Nadu grows up healthy, strong, and intellectually capable.
