Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the signature 'Oottachathai Uruthi Sei' (Ensure Nutrition) nutritional welfare scheme at a ceremonial function in Udhagamandalam. Fulfilling a key policy commitment announced on the first anniversary of his administration, Stalin explained that the program aims to identify and eliminate acute malnutrition among children under six years of age across Tamil Nadu. Sharing video footage of his interaction with young mothers and toddlers, the Chief Minister underscored that children constitute the future pillars of the nation.
Under this comprehensive public healthcare initiative, specialized medical screening camps will be conducted statewide across all anganwadi centers and primary health clinics. Healthcare teams will assess growth parameters, identify children experiencing severe or moderate acute malnutrition, and deliver customized supplementary nutrient kits and therapeutic care. The scheme also includes clinical consultations and nutritional counseling for lactating mothers to guarantee infant health.
Stalin affirmed that ensuring optimal childhood nutrition reflects the humanist core of the Dravidian model of governance. He stated that healthy, well-nourished children are vital for building a robust, intelligent, and prosperous future society across Tamil Nadu.
