Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin directed the Nilgiris district administration to promptly address the civic amenities, housing, and livelihood requirements of the indigenous Toda tribal community. Concluding a two-part report on his field visit to a Toda settlement near Udhagamandalam, Stalin stated that he personally instructed district collectors and departmental officers to formulate targeted development plans. He emphasized that the Dravidian model of governance listens attentively to marginalized communities, including Irulars, Narikuravars, and indigenous forest dwellers.

The Chief Minister shared photographs showing his interactions with community elders and women dressed in traditional Toda embroidered shawls. Stalin reviewed representations concerning all-weather access roads, safe drinking water distribution, street electrification, and title deeds for ancestral residential lands. He noted that protecting the unique cultural identity, pastoral livelihoods, and traditional habitats of indigenous tribes must accompany modern public infrastructure delivery.
