Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin shared photographic documentation from his on-site inspection of water discharge mechanisms at the Stanley Reservoir in Mettur, Salem district. The images captured Stalin reviewing operational flow logs and reservoir storage gauges alongside senior engineers from the Water Resources Department and key cabinet ministers. The inspection followed the formal opening of the dam's sluice gates, marking the historic early release of irrigation water in the month of May for the Kuruvai crop season.
The Chief Minister examined technical charts monitoring river discharge velocity and canal transmission rates designed to deliver water to tail-end delta areas within record time. Stalin instructed field engineers to regulate discharge volumes systematically to balance agricultural demand with seasonal reservoir replenishment from upstream catchment areas. He stressed that meticulous water management remains vital for preventing transmission losses and maximizing water storage efficiency across the twelve delta districts.
Stalin commended the engineering personnel for executing round-the-clock monitoring of dam safety protocols and hydraulic control machinery. He reiterated that his administration will maintain constant vigilance over river channels to ensure agricultural water security for delta farmers.
