Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for multiple major infrastructure and connectivity projects designed to accelerate the economic progress of Tamil Nadu. Sharing photographs from the joint ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, Stalin welcomed central infrastructure investments, including key national highway upgrades and railway expansions that enhance regional logistics and industrial efficiency.

At the same time, the Chief Minister emphasized that constructive federal cooperation requires the Union government to address vital state policy demands presented directly on behalf of Tamil Nadu's citizens. During his formal address on stage with the Prime Minister, Stalin explicitly articulated essential state expectations, including exemption from the national NEET medical entrance examination, timely release of GST compensation dues, and declaring Tamil an official language of central government institutions.

Stalin expressed firm hope that the Prime Minister will respond constructively to these constitutional and policy representations. He affirmed that true cooperative federalism thrives when the Union government respects state autonomy and fulfills the democratic aspirations of diverse regional populations.
