Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commemorated the official unveiling of the bronze statue of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at the Omandurar Government Estate in Chennai, describing the momentous occasion as a golden day in state history. Stalin characterized Karunanidhi as the Father of Modern Tamil Nadu, whose waking hours, spoken words, and governmental actions were dedicated entirely to the upliftment, dignity, and empowerment of the Tamil people.
The towering 16-foot bronze statue stands prominently on arterial Mount Road within the government medical campus, symbolizing Karunanidhi's enduring presence in public memory. Stalin reflected on the former Chief Minister's foundational contributions, including establishing industrial parks, creating specialized universities, providing free electricity to farmers, and instituting affirmative action quotas for backward classes. He stressed that contemporary Tamil Nadu's socioeconomic leadership among Indian states rests firmly on institutional structures built during Karunanidhi's five administrative tenures.
Stalin affirmed that the government under the Dravidian model remains steadfastly devoted to fulfilling Karunanidhi's ideals of social justice, secularism, and federal democracy. He stated that the memorial statue will continuously inspire future generations to uphold self-respect values.
